here's a few Italian countryside pic's :

this is hard to do!  you have to be ready !!

small Italian town's rail station :

now in Switzerland ..
10:08am  train to Zermatt

a Switzerland small town rail station :

some pic's from the train .. on the way to Zermatt

sorry for the power lines ..

we arrive in Zermatt !!

Check-in at our hotel, AND, this the view from our balcony :    Wow! Wow!  had to post immed. on IG

The Matterhorn in all of its glory!      Our hotel :

Our room is on the 2nd floor facing the mountain.  After finishing our bfast/lunch box, we spent several hours walking through town.

Zermatt is the 'Estes Park' of this section of the Alps.
You'll see in the following pic's :

beautiful flower boxes decorated the hotels & stores :

interesting down spout on the Library porch :

and, of course, I need to show you the local church :
(the spire was in my balcony pic)

more pic's on our walk back to the hotel, later in the afternoon, as the clouds were rolling in :

When back at the hotel we sat in the courtyard and watched the buzz of construction activity.
A surprising phenomenal fact is that Zermatt is a combustion-engine car-free zone.  Almost all vehicles are battery driven and almost completely silent!
AND .. they're TINY.   Taxis, working vehicles, buses! It's like we're in a 60% town.   Take a peek :

I guess this guy is really pollution-free! couch-delivery

A very very cute town!   Lots and lots of hotels.   Most easily walkable-to from the train station.   We saw hikers, climbers, snow-boarders, and tourists walking around town.    elevation : 5275 feet

Our train adventures continue tomorrow as we try to make short connections in Visp and Bern, on our way to enjoy Lucerne again.   Wish us luck!

Viel Gluck Alies Gueti !    :)
